Trying to leave Trysunda and the bad weather…

Unwelcome catch
As long as the winds came from the north-east, Trysunda was a 'haven of peace'. As soon as the winds turned to the south, our mooring became very uncomfortable. After one very rough night we decided to leave early in the morning and take advantage of the favourable winds. However lifting the stern anchor proved almost impossible and we found out that our anchor had dug up a huge waterlogged trunk and we could not get it off the anchor. After a few manoeuvres and a lot of strain on the cleats and the pushpit, the log finally came off and we could be on our way.
The sail past the Quark was wonderful. Although running before the wind is not one of Easy Rider’s strengths (due to her fixed back stays), she still ran beautifully.

The sea in the Quark over the shallower water built up quite a lot. The waves were 2-3 m high, but then when you have experienced the Raz de Sein and Ushant, or even wind against tide around our part of the world, it was not much more than that.
We arrived just as the sun was setting over Ratan around midnight.

Just a small note on the weather: there is an extensive low covering Scandinavia. While we were sailing, there were gale and storm warnings for Northern Baltic and the Gulf of Finland. As I write this two days later, the low is still around, almost stationary.
