Further north to our destination, from Mosesholmen to Luleå
28th - 29th of June
Luckily, we were able to approach Luleå through the skärgard and thus enjoying Bft 5-6 on a flat sea, sheltered between a great number of wooded islands. As before, sailing boats were a rare sight (we actually saw only one during the day). Getting into Luleå via the ‘back entrance’ requires some trust in the navigator, since the entrance only reveals itself at the last moment, shortly before you are able to shake hands with the swimmers trying to get into deeper water…

Accuracy of maps, especially of harbour entrances is not as we thought and we ended up first in a private marina were we were pointed into the correct guest hamn (harbour). While the breeze was still quite stiff from behind, we managed to get into the very narrow harbour and found a great berth, directly in front of all the services, a brilliant chandlery and a nice restaurant, named appropriately “Södra Hamn”, the harbour we are moored in.
We are now basically as far as you can go north by boat in the Baltic. However, as you know, Madeleine always wants to go further and see the midnight sun – so we will continue our travel north by car past the Polar Circle at least to the place were Norway, Sweden and Finland meet. More from us soon.
