... in just one week seems like a great shame, because we by-passed most of the Stockholm archipelago now.

small ferries in the archipelago |
We enjoyed it so much two years ago and it would have been so nice to discover new places within it. But as we assessed our progress so far, which has been very good (600 nm) and considering that Christian is going to join us for a week’s sailing in Göteborg on the 1st of August, we decided to leave the Baltic Sea and embark on the new ‘leg’ of our cruise.

Of course, if we stayed another year we could have seen the Baltic States, but this is another chapter in itself.

our ticket to ride... |
We will spend the next two weeks or so crossing Sweden from East to West through the Göta and the Trollhättan canals. Starting from the East, we will climb almost 92m until we reach the Roxen, Boren, Vättern, Viken and Vänern lakes and then we will descend to Göteborg. By then we will have negotiated around 66 locks!
This stretch of water is called Sweden’s ‘Blue Ribbon’. However, those who haven’t enjoyed the ride call it the ‘divorce canal’.
As far as Easy Rider and its crew (Stephan and me) are concerned, we look forward to this quite strenuous, yet exciting and interesting experience. We will let you know what we decided to call it in the end...
