coming up from the lock |
It is really strange to be the centre of a big tourist attraction. The canal is lined with holiday makers, who have come and watch when you lock in / or out.

enjoying an ice cream beside Easy Rider |
Today we stayed in Söderköping to watch the promenading people along the pier, cleaning Easy Rider and preparing for a strenuous day tomorrow with 13 locks until we reach the next little town.
Söderköping is a delightful small town, which was an important town and harbour, founded in the XIIIth Century and the crowning place of many Swedish kings. It lost some of its importance when the rising land cut it off from the sea. It lies 6 kilometres inland today.
