12/06/09 Leaving England: Harwich to Den Helder
Leaving Harwich, we encountered a helicopter following a big vessel and we wondered whether they had not paid their harbour dues.
Crossing the Southern North Sea was quite a busy and entertaining 24 hours, half of it motorsailing. If you think the Channel crossings are busy, try this one. At one stage we were surrounded by 17 vessels,
coming from all directions following several traffic separation schemes. On top of that, many immobile objects such as oil platforms and windfarms near the Dutch coast.
Even though the Marina in Den Helder is quite basic we were at least greeted by a welcome band displaying their musical prowess on the harbour wall. At least we listened to them!
